Black and White Photography Project: Boy in a Tunnel

Boy in a tunnel

When you’re looking at black and white photography from the eye of a complete photographic novice, you suddenly realise, through experimentation that certain things can be very nicely enhanced. I have found that black and white brings out textures that might otherwise be missed, obviously any photo where there is an easy to spot contrast between light and darkness benefits, andย  it also lends itself nicely to a picture like this where there are some interesting shapes.

What do you think?

    • Ah thanks Merlinda! I sometimes just look through the photos I’ve taken recently (mostly just on my phone lately!) and decide which would lend themselves best to b&w and this one kind of jumped out at me because of the shapes and the light!

    • Oh thank you Sara! It was a bit of a fluke really – I wish I had the capacity to just be thinking photographically all the time but normally I just shoot off a few pics and hope for the best, then look through them later and figure out which ones fit in with this or that. This one definitely lent itself to a b&w rendition! X
